When do I need a visa for Canada?
Swedish citizens do not need a traditional visa for short tourist or business trips to Canada. However, when entering by air, an approved eTA (Electronic Travel Authorization) is required before departure.
An eTA is an electronic travel authorization that is linked to the passport and is required for most visa-free travelers flying to Canada. For work, study or long-term stays, a special visa or permit is required. The final decision on entry is always made by Canadian border officials upon arrival.
Note: The above information applies to Swedish passport holders and other citizens from visa-free countries covered by the eTA system. Other nationalities may have different requirements. Some travelers may need to apply for a visa in advance or provide additional documents when applying.
