When do I need a visa for Turkey?
Swedish passport holders can travel to Turkey without a visa for tourist, business and private visits for up to 90 days in any 180-day period.
If you plan to work, study, settle in the country, or stay longer than the visa-free period, you need to apply for a visa or residence permit before departure. The type of permit needed depends on the purpose of the stay.
Even if Swedish citizens are covered by visa-free entry, it is always the Turkish border and immigration authorities that make the final decision on entry. The traveller may be required to present documents proving the purpose of the trip, accommodation and return ticket.
Turkey does not currently require a separate electronic travel authorization application for Swedish citizens traveling within the visa-free period.
Note: The above information applies to Swedish passport holders and many other EU citizens. For other nationalities, different rules and requirements may apply. Some travelers may need to apply for a visa in advance or provide additional documents when applying.
