When do I need a visa for Indonesia?

Swedish passport holders need a visa or Visa on Arrival (VoA) for tourist travel to Indonesia. Indonesia offers electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VoA) which can be applied online before departure or obtained on arrival at approved airports and border crossings.

Visa on Arrival gives the right to stay in Indonesia for up to 30 days and can be extended once for another 30 days through Indonesian immigration authorities. For long-term stays, work, study, or other special purposes, a different visa category is required.

Entry permits are mainly valid for tourism, family visits, certain business meetings and transit according to current rules. The final decision on entry is always made by Indonesia's immigration authorities at the border.

Since 2024, Indonesia also requires many international travelers to complete an electronic health declaration (SATUSEHAT Health Pass) before entry when this is applicable according to government regulations.

Note: The above information applies to Swedish passport holders and several other European nationalities. Other nationalities may have different requirements. Some travelers may need to apply for a visa in advance or provide additional documents when applying.
