When do I need a visa for South Korea?
Swedish passport holders can travel to South Korea without a visa for short stays of up to 90 days, such as tourism, family visits, transit, and some business visits. The K-ETA is an electronic travel authorization for visa-free travelers, but Swedish citizens are covered by a temporary exemption from the K-ETA requirement until December 31, 2026.
For work, studies, internships, residence or longer stays, a visa or special permit is required before departure. Even if you are allowed to travel without a visa for short visits, the final decision on entry is always made by South Korean border and immigration authorities upon arrival.
Note: The above information applies to Swedish passport holders and certain other nationalities who are subject to South Korea's visa-free rules or temporary K-ETA waivers. Other nationalities may have different requirements. Some travelers may need to apply for a visa in advance or provide additional documents when applying.
