When do I need a visa for Syria?
Swedish citizens need a visa to travel to Syria, regardless of whether the trip is for tourism, business, family visits or other short stays. The application must be made before departure via a Syrian embassy or consulate. Syria does not have a general e-visa system for Swedish citizens and a visa on arrival cannot be required for Swedish travelers.
When applying, a valid passport, visa application, passport photo and documents proving the purpose of the trip are required. The final decision on visas and entry is always taken by the Syrian authorities. Please also note that people with Israeli stamps, visas, or other evidence of previous travel to Israel may be denied entry.
Note: The above information applies to Swedish passport holders. Other nationalities may have different requirements. Some travelers may need to apply for a visa in advance or provide additional documents when applying.
